black + white

chic. timeless. modern. black and white never gets old.

count on kelly wearstler to always make it look interesting. this image is from her blog, my vibe my life, which provides a glimpse into her creative process. i find myself fixated on each of her posts. like her books, i reference them again and again, so rich in inspiration and visual cues.

when i saw this, i had to wonder if she dressed with the background in mind. the horizontal lines of the wood. the curved white pipes. the perforated holes in her gunmetal and silver rings. the leopard spots on her bracelet. the natural tones of the wood picked up in her python shoes. the exotic skins from her striped carryall.

it's a bold mix of textures and patterns unified by a simple color palette. all by design, intentional and with purpose.

i've always defaulted to a limited palette of black, gray and white. mostly because i'm a lazy dresser but i've been inspired to take it up a notch.
